Baby sick for 7 days, worried about supply

My DD is 7.5 months and has just had a bad bout of d&v (7days) I think she is recovering but I’m really worried about my supply. I am feeding of one breast only (long story) which has been going great but it’s not felt full at all even though often she’s hardly fed at all in 24 hours. Will my supply come up again as she recovers? Her latch feels totally different, much weaker but this could also be to do with her cutting her top teeth at the same time.

Yep at 7 months you should be fine - supply will readjust when she starts feeding more. Breastmilk is the best thing for D&V so do keep encouraging her to feed.

Can you try using a pump and store milk in fridge? Im not sure, but might be worth a try?

I’ve tried expressing but to no avail. The GP keeps suggesting water only but I’ve kept on with the bf. First time in my life I’ve disobeyed the Doctor! She’s not massively interested in feeding but I keep offering.

When BF is well established like this, it takes a lot to make it disappear - as soon as your dd starts to feed normally, it will come rushing back :)

It's a good idea to keep offering and offering.

Short term you may notice a difference but that's all.

Doc's advice to withhold BF and offer water only is (ahem) unusual.....

Good glad to hear that things should pan out. She’s a very rapid feeder compared to her brother so it never feels like enough. GP advice wrt bf had been wacky, they need training!
