Biting while breast feeding, phase or forever (8 months)?

Have you had a biter and did they stop? Ds is 8 months and has 4 front teeth. He has given me a good hard bite during each feed the last few days. I can't help but shriek which he seems to like.

I'm tempted to stop but he only feeds a few times a day and refuses bottles so I had been hoping to keep going. But the biting makes me mad.....

Hopefully a phase!
Mine was 3 months when his teeth came through and he really did bite!! I squealed and held my nipple away for a couple of minutes. He didn’t do it for long.

DD gave me a few really good bites around the same time, I was terrified each time she latched on. I took her off the boob every time she started to use her teeth and gave her a stern 'No'. Thankfully she got the hint (or just got bored of biting) after a few weeks. Good luck OP!

Well done on persisting through the biting. For your sore nipples rub lansinoh nipple cream on and leaving to the air after feeds. For your DS try putting some bonjella on his gums before the feed (his gums are probably sore if teething) Every single time he bites - to stop him push him gently but firmly towards the breast and his jaw should unclasp when he starts to feel uncomfortable. Take him off and say firmly "no biting-you don't hurt momma" and wait a minute or so before letting him latch again. He needs to make the connection between not biting and being allowed to feed IYKWIM. There's a good website called 'Kelly's Mom' which offers lots of helpful tips and advice when breastfeeding. Have a look, it might offer some more tips.

Phase. Mine only ever did it when teething. I won't deny it takes nerves of steel to put your nipple back in the mouth of a child who's just bitten it, but I'm glad I didn't give up during teething.

Mine does it for a few days when she has a new tooth coming through. It's bloody horrible. I say no and put my boob away for 10 seconds or so. Not sure it actually makes any difference 🤷‍♀️
