Tongue tie has reattached :-(

Hello,
My DS is 12 weeks old. We had a fairly difficult birth, my milk was slow coming in & he had a tongue tie, all of which has resulted in him being mixed fed due to too much weight loss. He had the tongue tie cut at 2 weeks, I tried everything to up my supply, but when trying to wean him off the formula top ups I couldn’t get him to put on enough/any weight. So we stuck with mixed feeding, which I was sad but ok about.
He’s a happy & contented little boy, but is putting on weight slowly (has dropped from 75th to 50th percentile). I also have felt for the last few weeks that his suck has been weak. I saw the Lactation consultant again today, and his tongue tie has reattached. She thinks that this is the cause of his slow weight gain and some of my supply issue.

I shall take him to the assessment clinic next week, but I just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced a reattachment, if you had it clipped again, and if it made a difference? I feel like we’ve worked so hard at feeding (some days I think it’s a miracle we’re still breastfeeding at all) and that we’re just very unlucky. I feel so grateful for having a smiley gorgeous baby, but just really sad that we can’t seem to sort this. Any thoughts would be appreciated x

Firstly, well done for getting this far! It's fairly common from what I cam tell from some of my groups. A friend on mine had to her her little girls done three times in the end. But is still feeding her now at just turned three!

Go along to the clinic and see what they say, it's prob worth doing even if only to avoid any chance of speech /feeding problems as LO gets older

Thanks @icclemunchy 3 times, wow! I confess I had no idea it could reattach. It wasn’t mentioned the last time it was done and it didn’t come up in my reading around it. That’s great she still fed for a long time after. I’ve made my peace with the mixed feeding but would be so sad to move completely onto formula.

We had dds cut three times - it may have reattached. It was defo third time lucky for us - done at Southampton.

Crikey, I just didn’t realise.
Can I ask, at what ages we’re yours clipped? And how did it impact feeding?
Our latch is actually fine in terms of comfort, it’s just that he doesn’t have a strong suck or much stamina, which has led to slow weight gain.

My dd's were cut at around 5, 8 and 12 weeks. Weight gain was poor and she made a funny clicky sound. She was always the most discontented baby at any of the groups we went to, which wasn't great! It took her a month after the final cut to feed properly and after that - no problem.
