6 week old feeding more

I have a 6 week old baby that had just started to reduce feeding times, between 5-30 minutes on average. Last night he fed for 1 hour 20 mins and he’s now been feeding for an hour! Even when he was a brand newborn he wasn’t feeding for this long. Does this sound normal? Growth spurt maybe?

Thank you!

Sounds normal - most babies go through periods where they feed 'differently' to what you have got used to. There's no real evidence beyond the anecdotal of growth spurts happening at specific times, but appetite spurts certainly happen.

If all else is well this is nothing to be concerned about :)

Cluster feeding. He is probably getting ready for a growth spurt.

6 weeks is a classic growth spurt time. If nappy output is fine and he seems happy and healthy then don't worry!

My baby (4 weeks) never feeds for longer than 20mins. Most time she feeds for 10mins. I can hear her swallowing, and if she starts to faff or stop, then i take the boob away. If she reaches again I start feeding again, but most of the time she stays asleep. No way would I sit there for that long, baby clearly can't be constantly feeding, their stomachs aren't big enough.

In the day she goes about 4 or 5 hours between, and night can be anywhere from 4-6 hours
