Best Breast Pump

Hi all,

I am not due until July but want to get an idea of breast pumps. Can anyone recommend the best electric breast pump (I am assuming these are better than manual!). I have read about the Medela Swing and it is meant to be good. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks x

I used medela swing and it was good. It’s easy to clean. The manual ones did nothing for me.

Another vote for medela swing. Manual ones won't get you anything in comparison other than a sore arm.

Lovely, thank you to you both x

Another vote for the madela swing. I have a manual one which I got first, a nightmare as by time you get going your hand is ready to drop off!!!

Medela swing is a really reliable good piece of kit

Mam manual can yield as much as the medela swing but is less comfortable for pumping after the milk stops coming (if you are "dry" pumping to boost milk supply)

Avoid the Tommie Tippee manual

Just started using the medela swing. I had a £££ one last time (which I left on a train Angry) but so far the medela swing seems just as good!

OoohSmooch · 21/02/2018 21:51

I used a Medela in the hospital & it was fab. I ended up just buying a half price Tommee Tippee one as I knew I wouldn't use it a lot & it did the job but it wasn't as good as the Medela!

Defo only buy once your baby is here in case BFing doesn't work out though.

The Ardo calypso got me through 6 long months of exclusively expressing... they also have a great customer care team.

Another vote for Ardo calypso I exclusively pumped for over a year and it was fab. I'm now using it again with baby no2 but thankfully only the occasional bottle this time. You can just buy a new set of shields etc so it's like new again which is what I did

Medela swing is the best by far (I went through a few!)

I tried the avent but couldn't get anything so it's another vote for the medela from me.

Another vote for the Season Calypso.

I actually found the manual Lansinoh pump really good.

Obviously if you're going to be expressing a lot (e.g you are working and need to build up a supply) an electric one will save your hand.

But I find the manual one gets more milk out quickly and it's SO much more discreet. My electric (tommee tippee) is so loud, I sound like a cow when it's used. Also so many tubes and pieces to put together compared to my manual Lansinoh.

If you need to express on the go then get a manual :)

Another vote for Lansing manual!

That should have been Ardo Calypso!
