I always bf lying down. I lay out my breastfeeding towel (don't ask) on the bed, lie down and read a book while she feeds. But then again I am a bit of a weakling, and my arm ache if I hold her.

Always did it when mine were younger. It took a while to get the hang of it first time. How do you feed in bed if you don't lie down?

slightly strange article, presumably it was meant to showcase how advice can help? she had thrush, not sure lying down would solve that!

Good story.
I breastfed DD lying down quite a bit when she was little. I also used to feed her the 'normal' way on the right boob but held her under my left arm for the left boob.
She didn't seem to like feeding from the left and to stop getting sore on that side I used to hold her so she was still lying on her right side if you can picture what I mean? Odd way to do it, I know, but it worked for us ...

i did that too ghosty, sort of slid round the front. i didn't mean to disparage lying down, wish there was more info about it as i found it very difficult to master when ds was tiny, i didn't have sense to put my arm underneath him.

I always fed DD lying down, I live in Italy and she was born in July and the hospital said that was the best way to avoid everyone overheating.
We continued like that and it was much less strain on back and arms, and, like Cazee, found it a great opportunity for a lie down and a read It felt quite odd on the occasions I had to feed her sitting up!

worked for me post c-section on the very few occasions when we had successful breastfeeds but funily enough it only worked on one side
