7.5 month old and milk

Dd is 7.5mo old and is doing really well with weaning, loves all her food and will take sips of water with her meals. Only now I'm struggling to get formula into her! I always offer formula before food but she is mostly not interested, even first thing in the morning she will have maybe 2 ounces at a push. The only time she seems to take milk well is in the evening before bed time she will drink an 8oz bottle and go to bed, then in the next hour or 2 will wake up and take another 6oz or so.

Does anyone know f this is normal and if she is getting enough milk? I'm worried she's not getting all the nutrients she needs

Hi Op,

I'm also bottle feeding now and about to start weaning this week. My LG takes around 750mls to 900mls on a good day and my understanding is as soon as they drop below 500mls around a pint you need to add vitamin drops A,C,D... your little one is taking 14oz over a day?

it's great she's eating so well and understand your concern as my understanding, is that Breastmilk or formula is there main source of nutrients. I think make sure your little one is eating a really varied diet i.e getting vitamin C for iron absorption and plenty of iron rich foods like red meat and lentils is also a good source. Out of interest are you baby led weaning or TW weaning? I'm looking at baby led weaning when I start.

I think she is getting a good diet. Normally cereal for breakfast, snack stuff with either cheese or yoghurt at lunch, and then a meal at tea time with a fruit pudding.
I may have to get some drops then as some days she will take 500mls but sometimes doesn't (I think that's about 2x 8 ounce bottles?)
What is TW weaning? I do some spoon and some baby led which seems to suit her well x

I bought the baby wellness vitamin drops, if your worried about the milk intake maybe offer this before a meal,if not doing so already? I went to a local weaning group and the nurse said that most babies have dropped some of their bottles by 9 months or so but every baby is different and some take to weaning quicker than others, hence the vitamin drops...probably more precautionary just in case the little one isn't getting a balanced diet, hence why the NHS recommend plus I don't think they can get all the nutrients they need from food alone, so the formula feeds are still a important part of the overall balanced diet.
The NHS website has it listed under vitamin drops for babies that they recommend from 6 months, but only if FF babies are taking less then 500mls.
(9 oz is about 250mls).
My little one takes ages to drink her bottles some days 1 hour so thinking about the fun of fitting it all in, but somehow we cope 😆 x
