Moving to bottle - am I doing the right thing?

For various reasons I’ve decided I need to stop breastfeeding - at least during the day, but I’d like to keep the bedtime/night breastfeeds if possible. The last couple of days I’ve been feeding my baby expressed milk in a bottle (I will eventually transition to formula) and she’s been taking them ok, if not drinking a huge amount. But when I’ve tried to breastfeed her at bedtime she gets upset - so I give her a bottle and she will drink a couple of ounces then go to sleep. She’ll then wake a couple of times in the night, breastfeed as normal and go back to sleep. I’m currently feeling a bit frantic because she hasn’t wanted her bottle this morning. I’m worried she will never really take to the bottle and I am inadvertently starving her. Am I making a huge mistake? Am I naive to think I can keep the cosy night breastfeeds? Do I need to just commit and go full on bottle? Even though I’m expressing I can feel the supply dropping already.

I dont know where to get advice about this. If anyone else has gone through this please tell me how and when it got easier!

Some babies mix feed fine for many months, some do develop a bottle preference and refuse the breast. Some will take a bottle ok then start refusing and just want the breast. It varies so much between each baby.

How old is she?

Look up ‘paced feeding’ for the bottles you give her, it should help her to keep breastfeeding too.
