OMG - she drew blood!

Hi, already posted about biting while feeding but now she is getting her top gnashers (poor thing she is only 6 months old). This morning she had a good old bite so I stopped and waited and then put her on the other one and she really bit me, there was blood! Really want to keep feeding but this is getting serious. Its like russian roulette every time I feed her - I bet Derren Brown wouldn't mess with a teething baby and his nip.

dd1 did this, and I screamed NOOOOOOooooooooo.

she only did it twice.

Each time she bites, stop the feed. She will soon learn that it is not in her best interest to do it.

Oh Pesme! DS2 did this to me recently and I cried and got really emotional about ti all. I followed some good advice on here () and took him off when he bit me. I also found that he bit me more when he was just comfort sucking and not actually feeding so we put a stop to that too! I did think at the time that I would have to stop but we're still going (11m)

thanks for the sympathy. i am abit low anyway due to being knackered. problem is she is still so young so might not learn not to do it. also the prospect of the top teeth is filling me with horror. anyone used nipple shields?

my dd's top teeth are peeking through too and i'm expecting to be bitten big time any day now...she's 9 months and has only biten me 3 or 4 times so far.... thing is she bites when she's teeting, so everytime a tooth comes, i get biten!

used shields with success, when had cracked/bleeding nipples but dd was quite young.

she will learn Pesme believe me. This is extremely common at this age and younger too. Just remove the boob and stop the feed any time she does it. Happened with all 4 of my babies and they stopped biting pretty quickly.

Thanks mears, thing is I am really nervous feeding her and I am sure she missed a feed yesterday because I didn't feel brave enough to try and persuade her to feed. Heh ho. Just when you get the hang of something...
