When does milk change once pregnant?

Am still feeding my 16 month old almost constantly, hourly sometimes 2 hourly. I am just 6 weeks (almost) pregnant and wondering when/how milk changes once pregnant?

I read another thread about this and people said around 3-4 months milk changes.

I am 8weeks pg and really want my 18 month old to self-wean but she is showing no signs as yet - still a boob-addict.

You must be finding constant feeding very tiring at 6 weeks crace?

my lo stopped bf when i was 16 wks pg, i initatied stopping the morning feed and one week later she stopped teh evening. I dotn think i had a lot there for her any more. Felt sad but glad it was not traumatic, i had an open mind about tandem feeding, me stopping or her stopping

It is exhausting, but this has been the way our life has been for 16 months! I am just wondering as my daughter seems less satisfied, but still isn't into eating. I'm not going to tandem feed, sadly I just can't face a constant feeding newborn and a constant feeding toddler that I doubt would want to share her "muk muk".

It's the weaning part that worries me I am also worried that nutrionally if she continues to feed she will be lacking.

crace, I totally empathise, I too am dreading weaning. I fear it will be fairly traumatic for dd and myself.

I am knackered already. She has been such a high-need baby and toddler and demands constant attention, that I am worried how I am going to cope as the pregnancy progresses.

Tiger - that is why I keep putting it off, I know how traumatic it will be. DH says she will just wail for 2 days and that will be it. Gee, can't wait.

I am secretly hoping my milk will dry up and it won't be an issue. But I doubt it. If anything my daughter has upped her feeds and it's agony!

Do you have a plan in place?

I am kind of waiting for the milk to change in taste in the hope that she will go off it. But I suspect this is a vain hope as she loves the comfort aspect of it as much as anything and I can just imagine her ploughing on regardless.

Dh suggested cutting out day-time feeds to just morning and evening initially. I have been trying to resist feeding while out in public and explaining to her to wait till we get home. Works sometimes, but today we went to a pub for sunday lunch and when she asked initally I said 'later at home' and distracted, but she kept on and on and was very restless and noisy and I ended up giving in for the peace and quiet.

I wish I had a plan. But lots of things can be a struggle with dd - getting dressed, getting shoes on to go out, changing nappies, sitting at the table, that I dont know where to find the energy for one almighty huge struggle. Especially over something that really matters to her and that developmentally she still needs in my opinion.
