Infant feeding

5 week old baby wind 2 hrs after feed

Hello,
The past 2 weeks my 5 week old son wakes up 2 hrs after feeding (combination breastfeeding and formula ) and looks like he is in pain and has lots of wind.
When feeding he also looks like he is struggling and gets very tense and looks like he is uncomfortable.
The GP suggested that it might be silent reflux and they gave him gaviscon.
Any recommendations and thoughts?

Aww bless him. This happened with my little boy as well. A friend recommended infacol which can be used from birth. It helps with wind and burping. It has really helped my baby. I just give him a small amount before each feed.

I use infacol for my son op. Why bottles are you using? I was using tommee tippee ones and the teat was too wide for my son and he was gulping because he couldn't breathe through his nose. He had terrible wind until I switched to Dr browns bottles on the recommendation of someone on mn.

I switched from tommee tippee to Dr Brown's as well and this helped also.

Infacol didn't seem to help :(

I am using the avent bottles, I will try the Dr Brown's.

Thank you!

A friend told me to try something called coleaf (not sure of spelling) if infacol didn't work. Infacol worked for us but worth a try with your little one? I am not sure if it can be used from birth but your health visitor will be able to advise. I hope it gets better for your little boy x

Thank you Simmy10!
The infacol works for his twin brother :) but not for him! Will give coleaf a go as well! At least one of them sleeps okay so it's only one of them that needs soothing, otherwise I would go crazy when my husband is at work!

Twins! Thankfully infacol is working for one of your babies :-) Fingers crossed that coleaf works for his brother. I really hope coleaf helps. Infacol didn't work for my friend's baby either but coleaf did. Let me know how it goes!
