Baby will only take bottle from me, help

DD has never been enthusiastic about the bottle, but it used to work OK. Then we got slack about giving her bottles, and left her for a few hours with my father, who'd always had a calm time with her before. She was inconsolable and thrashed as much as she ate. So now we're back to trying every day, but it's torture. It goes like this: DH comes home, picks up baby. She gets very slightly fussy, as if hungry. He offers her the bottle. She sucks once and then gets more and more miserable until she's purple faced and screaming full-out. I take her. Instant calm. I offer her the bottle. She grabs at it with both hands and drinks as if it were her first food in days. I put her on his lap and I offer her the bottle. Now it is just barely possible, kind of, if she doesn't notice him too much.

He feels horrible, like the baby hates him. I feel like I'm torturing them both. It's not the bottle, because she takes it from me. It's not him, and not me being there, because it happens to my father when I've been gone for hours. What can we do?
