BFeeding at a year-how many feeds is "normal"?

I know there is no such thing as "normal" but everyone is suggesting my DS is having to many Bfeeds. I intend to carry on feeding until he slef-weans so I am not trying to cut down, its just that I am wondering about how often mums are feeding lo's of this age ( I hardly know any mums still feeding IRL!) Also do you offer them food snacks and water, and if so when/how often as he often seems a bit wingy and perks up if I give him a rice cake or similar

My dd is now 14 months.
Around 1 year I started to cut down to morning, midday and bedtime feeds.
I offered dd water/diluted pure fruit juice with a snack (eg fruit,rice cake,cheese) mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
I have now dropped the midday feed and she is happy with her juice/water/cows milk.
I have the option to give extra feeds if/when required eg if she's a bit poorly

Hope that helps a bit?

Both my DC were feeding 4 times a day which dropped to about 2 feeds by 16/18mths.
They ate breakfast, lunch, dinner, mid-morning snack and mid-afternoon snack. Had water with meals (bf after meals and bedtime).

Forgot to say he has 2 feeds at night (would be very happy if he chose to give them up!!) one mid morning, one mid afternoon and one before bed. I have fallen into the habit of giving him milk before his 2 naps as he goes to sleep much quicker. He will sleep without it but for an easy life I tend to offer it!

IIRC at this age, DS2 was having 3 a day - morning, mid afternoon and before bed (and maybe one at night if he woke)

dd is 13 months and feeds around 7.30, 9.30, 12.30, 5.30, 7, and 2am!! Seems loads to me and I too have had loads of comments along the lines of 'by now she should only be feeding morning and night' - I asked a few people at breastfeeding group today and there was a real mix including a few who didn't go down to two feeds a day until 2 years old. I think if you're ok with it, go for it - I too feed her before her nap - hey it works and she sleeps for 2-3 hours (only one nap per day) who wouldn't? I try to kind of drip feed DD with snacks and drinks as she is not a great eater and it's the only way to get her to eat.
