Will my period reduce supply?

DD2 is 14 weeks. She's EBF, usually every 2 hours during the day and one stretch of four hours at night with either 2/3 hours gaps at night. She feeds like clockwork and is gaining weight well.

This morning I got my period which really shocked me. I fed DD1 till sh was 7 months and didn't get me period till after then.

Does it mean my supply is dwindling? Am I doing too much (I can never sit still and obviously not sleeping great). Also just recovering from a very bad cold (but only took paracetamol for it, no decongestants)

Or does it sometimes come back for no apparent reason?

No it's fine. Your supply will not dwindle. Although breastfeeding can stop periods it doesn't always and it's down to the amount of progesterone your boy produces. Your supply will not go down.

I've bf for over 3 years in total. Two children, ebf till weaning. Periods returned v v early with both Angry

Every period for the 2 days prior and first day or two my dc would be frustrated, unsettled and not feed as well. I think my supply definitely dropped a bit in those days.

My period returned after 2 months! I breastfed for 9 months and before I started weaning I'd find DD got fussy the first day of my period so I think it did impact. Obviously not enough to kybosh it altogether but feeds were a bit longer than normal.

OK thanks everyone! I can handle a few days of fussing, just relieved it won't stop my supply completely, phew!
