Fussing on one side

My DS is almost 2 weeks old. So far he is EBF and doing well, putting on weight and feeding regularly.

Over the past 2 days, he's become increasingly difficult to feed on just the one side. He pulls on and off and doesn't ever 'settle' on it like he does on the other side. He is really frantic almost as if there isn't enough milk, or there is too much to cope with.

He pulls on and off and relatches constantly. As a result, feeds on this side make him more uncomfortable and windy.

I have a very strong let down, I can feel it and it hurts (not sure if that's usual?). When he initially comes off, it sprays everywhere and is quite forceful. I have tried catching this in a muslin and this improves things slightly but he is still very fussy even when the worst of it has stopped.

Is it an age thing? A growth spurt? Is he trying to stimulate my supply? Any particular positions I can try? Is it likely to be a phase?

He is otherwise a totally textbook baby in comparison to my first who suffered from terrible reflux. Though obviously it's still v early days!

I have/had this problem with one boob. It’s still a bit of a problem but I think I calmed it down a bit by feeding on the other boob twice, and then once on over active boob, then twice back on other one - to try and get over active boob to calm down with the fast let down and spray.
May be terrible advice? I read it from other Mumsnet posts. It has seemed to work for us, not entirely, but helped a bit
