not sure bea - think I would be a bit hesitant to use second hand teats. Perhaps your hv would know someone who could use them?

i think i may just have to chuck them out! thanks lisa78!

bea, when DS2 was born, I was offered some second hand teats. I said I didn't think I should use them, but the midwife said it was perfectly ok as long as the teats are fully intact and you give them a good wash/sterilise before using.

Had to say to the midwife later though that she would not have said that if she had seen the state of these teats that I was offered. They were covered in mildew!!!

the box says to replace them monthly.. mil says wait for them to go 'cloudy and manky'.

guessing your friend has loads cos she kept her dc on pristne new teats!

i'm no scientist, but i think that when they start going cloudy, they must have tiny scratches on the surface. dirt and germs could hide there, so i don;t think they could be properly cleaned/sterilised.

Chuck!
