Hi, new member to mumsnet and looking for advice please. I've been breastfeeding for 4 months and have started to introduce the bottle. I recently changed bottle and milk as first combination didn't seem to work. Although she does take the feed she'll only take about 3 oz, her weight increase has been spot on currently at 10lbs so i'm worried that I don't want to undo all the good work i've done as she sleeps through the night(yippee) and i'm worried that by not taking enough milk she'll start waking for feeds and not gaining enough weight etc. Should I worry about how little milk she takes or can I do anything to encourage her to take more. We're currently using dr Brown bottles and cow and gate milk. many thanks to you all.

Are you wanting to phase out bfing completely?
IME with my dc's it is a very gradual process to stop bfing. If you are tryng to stop bfing just keep offering the bottle more and more frequently and she will eventually take more.
To be honest it sounds like you are doing an amazing job with the bfing especially as your dd is sleeping through the night
Have you thought about sticking with the bfing for a bit longer until your dd is more responsive to the bottle?

BF babies have teeny tums sometimes and some never take huge milk feeds. Some do of course.

One of friends ff her first and at 5 months she would down 9oz. Her second she bf ex till 5 months then swapped to formula and he never took over 5.5oz.

have you tried offering expressed milk until she is used to the bottle?

and (I tell everyone this) I switched to a vari-flow teat and suddenly ds downed 6oz.

still turns his nose up at formula on the first mouthful though!

Hi again, Many thanks for taking the time to reply back. You've given me some ideas to work with and play around with. So I guess I'll hang on in there and keep going. Appreciate the advice, it's nice to know I can call for help when needed.
