Dr Brown teats and teething

We’ve been using Dr Brown bottles with DD since she was a month or two old as she had mild reflux. She is 8.5 now months and teething (2 totally through, 3 teeth halfway through and another 3 that I can feel on the way). She is an, um, enthusiastic feeder and we have to replace teats every month as the holes get wrecked (we stopped using the tiny brush to clean them as we thought that was causing the damage).

Is this just the norm for teething babies who are bottle fed, or is she just particularly heavy-handed/toothed on the teats? Grin

The little blue brush in the Dr Brown's bottles are designed purely to clean the vents and not the teats as I understand this can cause teat damage. I also found moving my daughter on to the next size teat helped. Have you tried a level 4 teat as this is suitable from around 9 months? Like you, we love Dr Brown's bottles - they really help with the colic!

Hello Cornaclady - have only just seen your post, sorry!

We haven’t tried the next size up, but have not had any shredded teats since posting. If we need to replace any, will try a size 4 to see if it makes a difference. Thank you.
