Very 'Sicky' Baby

DS 9 weeks has always been a very sicky baby. Even up to an hour or two after feeding, and then of course he is about ready for the next feed! I always wind him during and after feeding and he burps or is sick, then I put him down for a bit and he is ok, but moans again and I pick him up for more wind/sick etc etc. Sometimes he is obviously very uncomfy with it drawing legs up etc. In the day its bearable, just get used to it. However, its the same at night, so can not put him down for about 2 hours after each feed.
Does anyone have any solution to this? Is it something that will improve - hasn't at all yet. He goes down about 7, wakes at 12.30, goes back about 2.30 and wants another feed 3.30 so after midnight I am not really getting any sleep.
Any advice gratefully received

My DS was hugely sicky as a baby, didn't seem to make him unhappy though. He grew out of it by about 6 months when he was able to sit up more. He also slept well from 7 - midnightish from fairly early on so I quite often went to bed when he did just to get some sleep in.

Oh, and I quite often found him asleep in sick in his cot as I just used to put him down after a feed and fall back into bed (he was in our room at the time). Is the sick making him really uncomfortable? There will be some people on here who have experience of reflux - which is more than just a sicky babe.

Yes the sick makes him uncomfy, like its trapped wind in his tummy so he whinges and whines when I put him down, being upright helps I think, otherwise I would just put him down and go back to sleep too! I think reflux is painful though - his is definitely just discomfort rather than agony. Just wish one good burp or puke would do it but it goes on and on. Bed at 7 it is then!

my 11 week old sounds exactly like your DS flowertot. I have just spoken to the HV about it but as my DS is putting on weight fine she wasn't really interested - very frustrating!

yes thats our prob too feb, he is obviously keeping plenty down but that's not the issue!

This does sound like Reflux.
My ds has it although he is growing out of it now at 8 months.

He would either throw up a full feed when being winded or a few mins after a feed.
In the end we had to put him on a formula called Enfamil. Its only available via prescription but its quite thick, hence it stays down better.
You can get some medication too if he seems in pain with the acid coming back.
Your Dr might offer something like infant Gaviscon to start with and if that doesnt work they will probably offer Ranitidine.

Is he bottle or breast fed?
if he's bottle fed, have you tried colic drops or switching formula?

DS was very sicky on Cow & Gate formula, he'd sometimes bring the whole feed back, even if i did burp him midway. I switched him to SMA, and while he would still posset, the major sickies went away for the vast majority of the time

my ds1 was like this when i changed him from bf to ff. hv ignored me as he wasn't underweight, then said it was reflux. turned out to be dairy intolerance. once i discovered this and switched his formula he stopped being so sick. he's now 3.5 and back on dairy but has never been sick since, not even with bugs

hi, i bf my ds so havent really got any experience if you are bottle feeding but i just thought that giving him less might stop him from bringing mik up if he's maybe having too much????? dont know but thought might be an easy thing to try straight away.
