Am so pleased - had ds2 (25 days old) weighed today and he has put on 9oz in 10 days! And is exclusively breast fed!
The reason I am so pleased? well - DS1 was prem and although I was exclusively bf he lost weight and I had real trouble with supplementing his feeds and got incredibly disheartenend. We managed mixed feeding til 6 months but I always felt a bit of a failure in the first place.
With DS2 I wanted to try again but was determined not to get so 'emotional' about it. Which of course I did almost immediately...it seemed to take an age for my milk to come in proparly and even now he will feed for a looooooong time. Anyway - he had only put on a tiny tiny bit last time he was weighed. Since then he has been feeding almost constantly, so I had told myself that if he hadn't put on weight, then enough was enough - if he couldn't put on weight despite being on the breast nearly all the time then that would be me done.
But 9oz in 10days!! I am thrilled! There is milk in them there breasts!! And it is MAKING HIM GROW! How cool is that?!
I am so relieved. I am finally doing something right.
Hooray!
Now we just have to get him sleeping a touch better and life will be rosy!!

PS and HUGE thanks to all the advice about sore, cracked nipples - the lanisoh (sp) worked a treat and latch is now much better and no more pain!
