Does this sound like reflux?

DS is 5 days old and formula fed, for the 1St few days he was fine but now he will down up to 3 or 4 ounces, bring it back up then start screaming, especially when we have to lay him down to change his clothes as he's covered in sick. As soon as we pick him up into an upright position he seems to calm down and settle. He seems to be most comfortable either upright or sitting in his rocking chair. The midwife said its wind but we've used infacol, burped him regularly throughout feeds and even if he does burp he still ends up basically projectile vomiting then screaming again. He seems to be wanting to feed alot too which I've heard can be due to the swallowing of liquid easing the sensation of the acid coming up. I'm wondering if to change he's formula but don't know to which one? Every time he feeds, coats us in vomit then starts screaming I just want to cry

Yes it does sound like my son diagnosed with reflux by a pediatrician at 10 days old. Had rather projectile vomiting and a vomiting in a form of fountain. Not all the babies suffer due to reflux. My son started to pull away from the bottle and cry a lot. His voice become hoarse. He was put on meds and doing fine now. Burping him and holding him for 20 min helps rather then putting him down. Vomiting is better now, normally small amounts. Doesn't bother him. Babies vomit if they eat too much or have ingested air but obviously if this is a repeat pattern more likely it is a reflux I think. Very bad projectile vomiting that gets worse progressively needs medical attention, as it may be due to a rare condition which however does not commonly start so early in the first week. My baby is 12 weeks now.

Yup, sounds like reflux to me. We couldn't put DD down anywhere without her screaming. She's being milk up and scream in the pram as well. Now she's on meds and is like a different baby! She still possets, but isn't in pain anymore.

*she'd bring milk up

Yes could well be reflux. Also, that's quite a large amount for such a small baby so could be causing some vomiting - average stomach capacity for a 1 week old is about 2oz.

Yes sounds like reflux! DS1 was exactly the same - time for a trip to the doctors for some medication.

And stop the infacol, it relaxes everything and makes it easier for vomit to come up so can make reflux worse. We had been giving it to DS1 for ages before the GP told us that.

Sounds like reflux. Ds was similar, diagnosed at about 6 weeks. I was brushed off for a while until he thankfully vomited all over the gp.

Possibly an odd question, but how does the sick smell? Baby sick is normally sweet and milky without being offensive, but some reflux babies have acidic smelling sick, more like if an adult or older child had thrown up.

Changing the milk can help as well. We found Hipp best, but it's really baby to baby. A df of mine found her reflux baby better on sma which drove my ds reflux off the scale.

Yes it does. Like pp we switched to Hipp and although it didn't stop the reflux if definitely made him less pained.
