Gaviscon and really bad painful bottom wind

Hi, my little one is 6 weeks and started gaviscon for acid reflux last Thursday, since then he's had really painful wind, does nothing but fart and seems to find a bit of relief when he does. He's not constipated as is doing a number 2 a couple of times a day. Does anyone know if gaviscon can cause this?xx

Forgot to say, He's formula fed and drinking 5-6oz every 3 or so hours, and burps easily.

I use to give my Ds gripe water 2x day to help. Not sure if it helped. I also did a belly massage very gently and move his legs like a bicycle motion too.

My daughter was a bit windy using gaviscon when she was a similar age. We changed her milk from aptimal to hipp, mainly because the gaviscon didn't seem to make a lot of difference and I'd read online that Hipp was better for reflux. A combination of the Hipp milk and gaviscon has helped the reflux and wind 😀

Not sure about Gaviscon causing it, but when my little one was suffering like that, I found a you tube video I think it was showing how to lift their legs to help release some of the trapped wind. It really worked! Also baby massage on their tummy can help.

Thank you, I've been trying the baby massage and pushing his legs up to his chest does seem to release some of the wind but half an hour later he's the same again. More so at night.

He's on aptamil profutura I'm thinking of maybe changing it to the comfort one.

He's having gripe water too just a little helps for a short while but still really uncomfortable.

Also I remembered, I changed milk formula from Aptimal to SMA comfort as it's easy digest. Boots Pharmacist recommend it. It's a matter of trying different things unfortunately. In the the end Gavisgon didn't help with reflux and the Dr moved him on to Rentadine. Ds reflux greatly improved. He was much happier and not crying so much.

Gaviscon didn't work for my son either, he was given Omeprazole as a syrup, and was like a different child after a week or so.

I didn't want to use gaviscon due to possiblity of a constipation. My baby is on ranitidine. Gripe water 2.5ml before or after feeds helped so much when he was not pooing (not a constipation, just not pooing) and had bad winds. Also changed formula and he started pooing more frequently.
