Frozen breastmilk v formula

We had a bit of a rough start and I could never get my little one to latch on properly for a number of reasons. She is. Ow almost three months old and I have been pumping and feeding her expressed breast milk exclusively so far. I have a good supply of breast milk and have built up quite a stash in the freezer - the pumping is really hard work and time consuming and I was hoping to feed the milk I have in the freezer to my daughter when I am cutting back on pumping and ten don't pump at all going forward, before I switch to formula. However a friend mentioned he other day that frozen breastmilk isn't any better than formula, which made me feel a bit sad for my stash and like it wasn't really going to benefit my daughter and whether it's worth continuing to pump and freeze breastmilk. I wondered whether anyone had any views on whether frozen breastmilk is in fact any 'better' for the baby than formula? Thanks in advance!

Didn't want to read and run, I'm no expert but breast milk - even frozen - is definitely better than formula.
What a strange thing for your friend to say Confused

I have never heard that said.

Some what a load of rot

It is better. It kills off the antibodies in it when frozen so its not quite as good as fresh, but it is still human milk rather than modified animal milk so easier for her stomach to digest.
My second daughter was fine when having frozen breast milk, but got awfully bloated and had diarrhea for about 2-3 months when she had to go onto formula, which even carried on but to a lesser extent when tried on lactose free formula by gp, so from my experience there was a very noticeable difference too.

Your friend is a bit dim. Well done for pumping and stashing!

One thing to be aware of is that some people have some sort of enzyme in N their milk which makes it taste all soapy and horrible when it has been frozen. I had this and my DS simply refused breastmilk that had been frozen! So dispiriting.

Though he was a bottle refuser anyway.
