I'm looking for some advice about pace feeding, sorry if the post gets long, don't want to drip feed!
My DS is 6 weeks old and we have introduced a bottle of expressed breast milk in the last week to try and minimise chances of him becoming a bottle refuser.
We tried him on Friday night with 30ml of EBM and used pace feeding and slow flow tommee tippee closer to nature bottles to try and mimic breastfeeding as much as possible. He took it great and I finished off the feed on the breast.
Tonight we tried him with 60ml but it was awful! He took the bottle no bother, we paced it, stopping every 20-30 secs to simulate BF, and burped him every 10ml or so. This gave us a chance to look for hunger cues which he displayed every time. Near the end of the bottle he started to spit up the milk before bringing up what looks like the entire bottle on my DH! Then DS was inconsolable while we changed him out of his wet babygrow and vest and is now back on the breast because he was hungry after bringing up the entire feed!
Anyone else experienced this? What are we doing wrong? It was heartbreaking to see him so upset and I'd rather avoid a repeat!
