Stopping BF

My DS is 7.5 weeks old and for a variety of reasons I need to move to mixed feeding, or solely formula fed (I don't need advice on how to maintain breastfeeding). Do I just gradually give formula instead of a feed? Should I pump if engorged?

I've read that all formulas are nutritionally the same, so I should just choose what's cheapest?

As for choosing the formula, I'd just choose whichever is in the nearest shop. Winter is coming and you don't want to run out, only to find the nearest shop that stocks it is 10 miles away.

Current advice on stopping Bfing is to try and drop one feed every 2 weeks. So pick a feed, maybe one when your partner is around and swap that one to formula. Dropping one feed every 2 weeks will get LO used to the new volume of milk they have to drink and will reduce your risk of mastitis Smile

I'm not trained though, so you might want to run it past a BFC. Have you got the helpline numbers?
