Dr Brown's Bottles - 3 month teats?

Anyone have any experience of switching from the newborn to the 3 month + teats for Dr Brown's bottles?
I think my DS could use a faster flow, but seems to choke on the next stage up teat - he is now 3 months.
Or should I do the old heated needle trick to widen the hole on the newborn teats???

Hi JM,
I found that when I switched it did make DS choke a bit at first, but he soon got used to the faster flow. Why did you switch? I switched 'cos DS was getting fussy on the bottle.

It may be that your DS isn't quite ready..... could you leave it a week or two if you're unsure.

making the hole bigger in the newborn ones will be the same as using 3 month teats surely? ds2 uses the Dr Browns 3 month teats. Though he still has the newborn ones for his water as it flows quicker than milk anyway. He did gag with the 3 month teats to start, but i think that was because he wasn't used to them. He was ok after a day or so.

Thanks for the feedback!

My DS has been occasionally fussy on the bottle for the last couple of weeks anyway. It's a bit confusing 'cause he has one fussy feed and then another where he calmly glugs down the bottle.
So just when I think I ought to switch, he feeds well!
He has a tendency to be a bit windy so don't want to make matters worse by having a teat with too fast a flow - do you think that they will do that???
Busybee, when I increased the hole on one of the newborn teats, the flow still didn't look as fast as the 3 month teats when I turned the bottles with milk upside down...but maybe it is different when they are actually sucking on them??
