Air dry or nipple cream / breast milk?

I'd love some personal experiences please. My DD is 5 days old and feeding is going well except one nipple is cracked, really sore and bloody painful.

Last time I did this I got told different advice by different people.

One was to let the nipple air dry as much as possible, another was to rub breast milk on the nipple and another to keep it constantly covered with nipples cream I just don't know what to do for the best!

TIA

I used lansinoh. I've read that you really shouldn't let your nipples air dry?

I second lansinoh. I used before and after every feed and nipples never got sore. Ds face was always smothered in it!

I stopped using it a little while ago but you've just reminded me my LO always had a greasy looking face 😂

I air dried last time on a recommendation and my nipples scabbed over so badly. Very very painful.

So far it's been the little purple tube and a lot of teeth gritting. Grin
