Is it OK to breastfeed if you have a stomach bug?

Sorry, probaby sounds like a really stupid question. Think I might have a stomach bug - have just been horridly sick and am feeling pretty yucky still . Am breastfeeding 8mth old dd - have breastfed right through - she's never had formula - is it at all dangerous for her if I breastfeed whilst I have a stomach bug? I've just rung NHS Direct for advice, but apparently it's a 5 hour wait for a callback and dd is bound to want a feed before then... Thanks

you'll be fine just drink plenty so you don't get dehydrated. I had an awfull bug when no 3 was a few days old, as did my other 2 and was told it was fine to breastfeed by the gp.

I don't know the answer for sure but I would ahve thought it's ok.I ahve bf when I've had a cold so I'd assume the same applies and it is fine

Yes, it's fine. Just make sure you look after yourself well - drink plenty etc.
