Removal of ovaries, hrt and bf 2 yr old

Hello

I have just had my ovaries removed as they found borderline tumours. I am going to be put on hrt once they know the results of the biopsies and as I understand it I will still be able to feed my just shy of 2 yr old dc4.

My concern is will my milk dry up in the time between the surgery and getting the hrt? Does anyone know who I can ask about this?

I really wanted to make it to 2 but I know my health has to come first now as he mainly feeds for comfort. But he is my last baby and I'm not sure I'm ready to stop.

Any help much appreciated

You should be fine stopping on your own terms as your surgery shouldn't affect your milk production. Your prolactin and oxytocin come from your pituitary gland.

Thanks for this. It's all happening so quickly it's hard to get my head around. We have had two good feeds since surgery but as I hadn't eaten much for a couple of days I didn't have a lot.

Sounds really stressful - hope you are feeling better soon
