Making bottles - the level always rises

Hi, this may be the stupidest post on here but I needed to ask.

When I make a bottle - I put 7 oz water and 7 scoops as it says on the box; 1 scoop = 1oz.
So great, that's what everyone else does too.

My partner however, has always had this thing that if you put 7oz of water and 7oz of formula, it was always rise above the 7 oz mark as it's "simple physics". I ALWAYS get my hair of because I ask him to make 7 oz and it comes back 8 oz and we always argue over it as he is adamant he's only put 7 oz in and I'm adamant he's making bottles wrong, to the point where I subconsciously make all the bottles now.

Last night I stood there and watched him make a bottle and I checked the level after he had poured the water. It was 7. He then put 7 scoops (I counted too) and when I checked again, the level had actually gone up to just under 8 oz.

Does it normally go up when you put the formula in? Do I need to say sorry?Wink thanks x

yes, the level will usually rise up.

Chunkymonkey123 · 27/07/2017 09:34

Yes that's what happens

AlpacasPackOwls · 27/07/2017 09:35

Yes.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 27/07/2017 09:42

Doesn't this also happen when you make them?

harleysmammy · 27/07/2017 09:44

I've never really paid attention when I make it, I noticed yesterday it goes up maybe half an ounce but I've never really noticed. Thank you everyone:)

Yes it goes up due to the formula being added. Perfectly fine.

FartnissEverbeans · 27/07/2017 16:24

He's right, it's like when you get in the bath and the water level rises

dementedpixie · 27/07/2017 16:26

Yes it's normal.

Spam88 · 27/07/2017 21:28

Of course it does, you're adding more stuff to the bottle...

Ecureuil · 27/07/2017 21:33

Well yes. If you have 7oz of water and you're adding formula to it, of course the level will rise. As there will be more stuff in the bottle.

DeeElle88 · 27/07/2017 21:39

Don't worry, my husband and I also stressed about this in the formula days...i used to explain to him that the water would rise, and he couldn't get his head around what I was saying....that's sleep deprivation for you!

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 27/07/2017 22:32

Of course it rises. It's the displacement value. I'd be amazed if it didn't happen with the bottles you make...
