7mth old - how many bf's?

DS2 is 7mths and mainly breastfed (has formula when I'm at work).
He has 3 non milk feeds, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
He wakes up early between 4 and 6am and will bf on and off for a bit. I'll then bf at 8ish and offer bf's every 3.5 - 4hrly. Last bf between 8pm and 9pm before I put him in his cot.
A lot of the time he isn't very interested in bf during the day, although I know he'll down 6ozs ff twice a day 3 days a week whilst I'm at work.
Is he telling me that he no longer wants to bf? Or is he just happy having a few mouthfuls of bm during the day?
I'm unsure of what to do as DS1 was only bf for 15wks, I've never got to this point.
HV isn't worried. Weight is good (18lb 12oz) although he's gone from 75th centile to the 50th.
Any help or advice out there? TIA

Its really just whatever he wants, and whatever you are happy with. I always get to a point BFing where I think "What is going on here?, how many feeds? how often? wheres the routine?", and then within the next few weeks a pettern emerges and we settle into a new routine.

As long as you offer BFs (the frequency you mentioned sounds fine to me), then he will take what he wants. He may be taking more than you think - they are very efficient by 7 months.

At 7 months my DS was having 6 or 7 breastfeeds in 24 hours usually, but a few of these day feeds whould be fussy/why did I bother feeds where he didn't seem to take much/anything.

I wouldn't worry at all about the percentile thing - both mine were born big (97th) and dropped fairly quickly to the 50th, where they have both happlity stayed ever since.

HTH, and good luck. I'm sure what you're doing is fine.

my dd is 6.5 months and she generally has 4 BFs in a day and one at some point overnight (though not last night - wayhey!).

she doesn't have formula and has 3 "solid" meals a day

she has extra feeds if she's grumpy or down on sleep or if her meal's running late or we're out and about so it's not as if it's set in stone

Ok, thanks, I'll plod on then.
He is a quick feeder anyway, never on for more than 10 mins max apart from the early morning feeds.
