Major hormone imbalance! Extended breastfeeding! HELP!

Hi all,
I'm bf my almost 3 year old. He's a total boob monster and feeds quite frequently, especially at night when we co sleep. Hence Still no period!
I fell pregnant with him when his older brother was 2.5 and was still feeding him at the time. Periods returned At 9 months with him but cycle was all over the place because of the bf, had a very short luteal phase and struggled to fall pregnant for some time. Basically haven't had a "normal" cycle for about 7 years due the pregnancies and the breastfeeding!
Cut to now, and I think I am trying to ovulate but am really suffering! I used to chart so am very in tune with my body and have now had copious amounts of Ewcm for about a week, very definate ovary pain ( have always had ovulation pain so know it's that) and really sore nipples. To top it off, for the last week, I've felt like I am losing the plot. Feel totally spaced, forgetful, anxious to the verge of panic attacks and also hot flushes! I also had the same last month to a lesser degree and minus the ovulation pain, but didn't put two and two together until it's happened again this time around. It passed after about a week but I'm assuming I didn't ovulate as have had no period in between.
I've been on dr google and I think I may be suffering with oestrogen dominance due to really low progesterone levels as a result of the bf. I am pretty hormone sensitive in general, have suffered with pmt in the past, difficulties getting pregnant and also had hyperemesis with both pregnancies.
Has anyone suffered similar when their cycle returned after so long?
Not sure what to do about it. Maybe see gp and ask to have hormone levels checked? Has anyone tried progesterone cream? Maybe try weaning but that in itself is very daunting at the moment!!
Any advice most welcome!

Not sure if you need any treatment. Many women experience a few "ghost" periods before they actually get a period. Have a look at breastfeeding and fertility on Kellymom Smile
