i found apple juice eased dd's straining - tastes better than prune juice and her face when i offered water, you'd swear i was trying to poison her!!

Hi there
New to this site too, but love it! My dd is only 14 weeks but went through a spell of this too when I switched from SMA Gold to SMA white (I know SMA gets slagged off quite a bit on here but am not brave enough to switch!). I went back to Gold incidentally and poos are now back to normal. Prior to this, on HV advice I tried orange juice & water - had to be freshly squeezed, what an ordeal & she refused it. Also tried apple juice, normal carton with no bits, with water, only took 2oz and my dd was grouchy and unsettled all weekend. Anyway, it righted itself after a couple of weeks with nothing changed and when you do a search and read through different threads, some people report no poos for 9 days, 15 days etc!!! God, I'd pass out if that was my bowels! I think its just an adjustment thing - good luck anyway!

excellent...thank you...I tried apple juice and water and dd also looked like I had just given her something especially nasty...she does pooh every day...but honestly...it looks like piped out clay and she strains...I think I will go and try some other formula today...although I also just gave her some mashed butternut squash...bit early but she is ravenous and now waking several times throughout the night (previously sleeping!)...she loved the squash...even though we both wore a fair bit of it..!!
