Haakaa/nature bond silicone pump

Has anyone used either of these 'pumps'? Looking at the reviews it doesn't seem to be a pump, more a container to catch let down.

How does it work - does it provide suction or stimulate let down in anyway? Also, if you don't generally leak while feeding will you still be able to collect milk from the non feeding breast?

I want to know this too! Anyone...??

Yes! I don't use mine much any more but I actually got on much better with this than my electric pump. There is some suction created as you squeeze the air out of the bulb before attaching but for me not enough to induce let down on its own so I used it just whilst feeding on the other boob. Well worth the money IMO.

Thank you I was leaning towards buying it anyway and see how I get on, seems a reasonable price on amazon. I have one boob that leaks when baby is due a feed and one that doesn't at all so will be interesting to see how this works. mykingdom I will update once I get around to using it

I really like my haaka! Although make sure you buy the stopper or you'll spend your life cleaning up spilt milk!! I use mine to pump a bit off when I'm engorged to help with latching and then to catch what leaks while feeding great wee pump for very little money!

Thanks nurse, I got a lid with the nature bond pump but it doesn't fit snugly enough, maybe a stopper would be a better idea.

So I've given the pump a small trial run, and I got 1.5oz out in about 12 min which is fab considering I normally get about that after 10 min of pumping both boobs with my hospital grade pump!

So far it's only worked on the boob that leaks anyway, I couldn't get anything from my non leaking boob but haven't tried it for longer than a few min. It is a bit pinchy and painful on that breast so that doesn't help. The suction can be pretty strong depending on how many times you 'pump' it to get the suction.

The other thing is making sure that ds doesn't kick off the pump while it's attached takes a bit of work!

All in all I'm happy with this purchase, even if I get a couple of ounces a day that's enough to build up a decent freezer stash.
