Can weaning help to reduce sickness?

Not sure if I should be on the "food "topic really. But ds nearly 18 weeks have begun weaning. I think he has reflux he possets up a hell of alot of his bottle we get through 2 bibs maybe more a feed. I have never done anything about it but he has shown signs of weaning for sometime. He has been doing really well with a spoonful of baby rice at 11a.m.. But no change on the posetting. Can excessive posetting damage him, should I maybe go to the doctors and can weaning help reduce the amount of vomitting he does??? Questions, questions, questions really sorry guys but just need a little advice. Really worried that I should have gone to the quacks a long time ago.

If he's putting on weight and not too distressed, there's not much they would do anyway (but always worth getting checked out just to rule out anything else I suppose).

Weaning didn't stop my two puking (in fact, the puke just gets thicker from the food, more smelly and the lumps are harder to shift from the clothes/carpet ). Apparently, its the stomach muscles getting stronger that does it so should start to improve with sitting up then walking. Having said that, I know some babies with mild reflux have improved with weaning because the food is 'thicker' and sits in their tummies. If he is prone to being sick though, beware of over feeding when weaning because of the obvious result!

Thanks foxinsocks (brilliant name by the way!) I am taking the weaning thing really slowly. He has been on 1 level spoon for nearly 5 days and then will go onto two spoons one at 11a.m and one at 6p.m. for 5 days then introduce some pear on day 11. I hope it helps hom a little ds1 was only a little bit sick as a babe and food stopped it straight away. But ds2 is so sicky not sure if it will stop, oh well I live and hope because even ds1 is beginning to say that his baby brother smells of sick!!!!! And not forgetting mummy's smell of "Eau d' vomit!!"
