My DTs are 10 months now, started weaning at 6 months and they took to it straight away. They will try pretty much any finger foods and anything off a spoon so long as it is reasonably 'wet'. They were on 9th centile when born.
They had their 10 month check recently at which they were weighed again and they are now at 75th and 95th centile for weight! I asked HV if it was normal to jump so many centiles and she wasn't really concerned, just said it was normal for preemies to catch up over time (they were only 4 weeks premature). DTs are both on 98th centile for height so they do not look terribly chubby.
However I am now worried that I am overfeeding them! They eat loads, usually everything I offer them and would keep going if I offered more. I have dropped formula feeds down to 3 a day and plan to drop another when they are 11 months.
Here is what they will eat on a typical day:
7am - 8oz formula
9am - Readybrek with cows milk - 6 tablespoons each
12 - 6 oz formula
1.30pm - hummus or soft cheese on toast (1 slice of bread each), half a banana, small pot of fromage frais
5pm - spag bol / risotto / soup, about 6/7 tablespoons, then fruit or rice pudding
6.30pm - 8oz formula.
Does this look like too much? Should I be cutting it back? I am worried about them being hungry as they are always happy to eat, but I don't want them to have problems with weight in the future. If it's relevant they have just started crawling so are reasonably active.
