Temporary breast milk storage question

FlipperSkipper · 27/04/2017 16:51

DH is giving me a night off this weekend and doing the night feeds with bottles and a mix of expressed milk and formula. I'm going to sleep in the spare room. I'll have to pump at some point, will I be OK to take a cool bag with ice blocks with me and put the expressed milk in that and then freeze it in the morning, or should I put it in the freezer straight away?

I think you need to freeze straight away. Either that or just throw it away. I'm sat with my pump right now and the thought horrified me, but there isn't much I wouldn't do for a side sleep!

Solid! Not side. Darn you autocorrect!

Can dh just collect it and feed straight to baby?

You don't need to freeze it straight away but it's best to pop it in the fridge. Off the top of my head you can store it in fridge for 5 days but check that before you do.

I know your having the night off but wouldn't it be easier to feed baby rather than express? Quicker and saves you having to set everything up?
