to express or not to express??

short story - baby has been in special care and bottlefed with EBM for about 10 days. nurses were feeding him 60ml every 4 hrs.
so i've been expressig 4 hrly and have got tons of milk (about 7oz each time, both breast).

ds is home now and had 20mins on breast. i'm also due to express, so should i express and empty breast before next feed??? iykwim

I would wait until next feed so you can learn to produce what he needs - but then I didn't do it for long so perhaps others may be able to advise you better.

I would carry on expressing. I am in a similar situation but a week down the line. My baby came out of the neonatal unit 10 days ago after an 8 day stay. I am now having lots of trouble expressing and want to carry on. Just started my own thread HERE . I would say - express it and freeze it until you need it.

so expressed in the end!! i'm planning to do what you've have done dixia - DH will give him the 10pm feed with ebm.
