The Breastfeeding Manifesto

The Breastfeeding Manifesto Coalition looks forward to a society where:

  • Women feel enabled to initiate and continue breastfeeding for as long as they wish
  • Parents are supported to make informed choices about feeding their babies
  • Everyone is aware of the significant benefits associated with breastfeeding.

The Breastfeeding Manifesto outlines seven key objectives necessary if the UK is to initiate and sustain improvements in infant feeding practice. Working towards these objectives will help to ensure that women, irrespective of their socio-economic or ethnic background, are empowered to breastfeed for as long as they choose and that more babies can enjoy the benefits of their mothers milk.

The Manifesto can be found at: www.breastfeedingmanifesto.org.uk

The Breastfeeding Manifesto is supported by a Coalition of over 30 organisations including UNICEF, Save the Children, the National Childbirth Trust, the Breastfeeding Network, The Royal College of Midwives and Best Beginnings. The Manifesto has already achieved cross-party support but, for it to have the impact at Governmental level that is necessary to ensure it is fully supported and resourced, lots more people need to sign. It is quick and easy to do.

Simply go to: www.breastfeedingmanifesto.org.uk

Here you can add your own name to the Manifesto and also find out how you can lobby your MP and be kept in the loop.

Together we can make a real and lasting change for future generations.
