We have just started and although I have read quite a lot it all goes over the same things and doesn't cover other questions.
It's all so new and exciting/ terrifying.
I wondered if anyone else would like a place to share experiences and recipes, ask daft questions and generally share the journey?

I am a bit worried as it's always really solid, she is going more frequently though. I'm drinking lots of orange juice and trying to get her to eat pears in various forms. Not helping all that much but not sure what else I can do.

Given that she's still learning to chew, she is swallowing quite large pieces (some go straight through!). Surely that will slow her digestion down and isn't exactly ideal? I can't find anything about digestion really at all in the baby led weaning book.

Day 3 of hard solid poo in a row. In fact he did three small ones today.
I think it's ok. He dosent seem to be in any pain or struggling to pass them.
Have upped the pear intake too but it's not making much difference so far.
I'm going to keep at it as long as he isn't in any discomfort and see if it settles down.

Good point about swallowing solid lumps MrsK - same here, must be having affect on digestion but I guess it's the only way they learn..

www.blwideas.com/constipation/

When dd first started having formula she became constipated and my gp advised me to give her 1 tbsp of freshly squeezed orange juice in 4oz of warm water. I might give that a crack if nothing has happened by tomorrow.

Finally making progress with easing the constipation here.
Cut my out banana completely and have been giving some pear after each meal.
Also have been getting him to have some prune juice. Either mixed with come mashed cooked pear. Or he can just sip it if I put some in an open cup and hold it for him.
Also administered via calpol dispenser
Haven't given in his usual beaker diluted because I'm trying to avoid giving him juice as a drink.
Today we've had soft poos with minimal straining and he's in a much better mood.

Any one got any recipe/meal ideas? Running low on inspiration!

'@hiimmumma' glad to hear that you have got the constipation sorted. We are still struggling. Are you diluting the prune juice before giving it to lo?
I think that some of the problem for us is that dd is not interested in drinking water and is currently refusing to hold a cup, despite being more that capable of it.

Foods that have gone down well here include
Cheese and ham scotch pancakes
The potato croquettes that another poster suggested earlier in the thread
Sugar free muffins www.google.co.uk/amp/s/thebabybistro.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/more-baby-baking-banana-muffins/amp/
Pasta and tomato sauce www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pasta-recipes/classic-tomato-spaghetti/ even fussy dh liked this

@WinkyisbackontheButterBeer
I didn't dilute the prune juice.
A couple of times I mixed it in with his fruit and he ate it off a spoon.
Mostly he'll sip it out of an open cup. Just a small amount.
He is good a drinking water though and out of anything really too so I'm l lucky there.
Gonna try the muffins and the pancakes. Such a good idea.
