Aptamil - reflux

Hi all,

I have a very refluxy baby who after one bottle of breast milk is sick around 6/7 times.

We are considering moving to formula for 24 hours to see if there's any difference in her sickness.

We've seen the reflux formula and wondered if this may help. Anyone had any positive news stories with this?

Thank you

I would not move to formula to help with reflux. Formula was no better than bf for my lo. Have you considered medication?

Btw I ff from 6 weeks.

DD2 was a changed baby after moving onto reflux formula, it was like a miracle cure. Might not work for everyone but definite thumbs up from me.

It was a miracle worker for us. My DD is now 17 weeks old, from her being born to about 9 weeks old we were at the end of our rope, couldn't figure out what was wrong tried every colic treatment out there (wrongly as she had silent reflux not colic!) Suspected reflux in the end so tried Gaviscon which didn't work, finally got so fed up switched to Aptamil anti reflux and she was like a different baby. So settled, hardly cries, happy and smiley. Wish we'd realised sooner it was reflux!

Oh man, wish I'd read these kinds of posts when dd had reflux! Tried everything 😫

Thank you everyone! It's nice to know that these formulas do work. Baby is on gaviscon at the moment due to a strong reflux.

We bought some regular aptimal and I'm not sure if it's agreed with her. Lots of sickness after it

Regular Aptamil won't aid stopping the reflux as it's too thin so just comes back up her oesophagus. The reflux milk is very thick so doesn't come back up easily. You would need larger teats for that milk. We ended up having to get the Y shaped variflow teats as size 3's still weren't big enough!

My 6 month old was diagnosed with reflux at 4 weeks. Anti-reflux milk was a life saver, she was so unsettled before we started her on this. FWIW my brother is a pharmacist, he suggested we try it to avoid giving her medication.

If the reflux formula doesn't help, it's worth trying the aptamil lactose free.

Both of my older kids had reflux which was related to lactose

I currently put gaviscon in my breastmilk and this is starting to help.

Gaviscon and breast feeding is a PITA. Ask your Dr for rantadine.

Dueindecember2016 · 20/03/2017 15:56

What's PITA?

PITA = pain in the arse
