Mixed fed 8mo return to work feed

Ds will be 8months when I go back to work. We've mixed fed due to bf problems.
He's 6mo now, eating loads (blw), bf during day and bf + 3 small formula topups at bed/in night.
I have never managed to pump more than 30ml so not going to express.

When I go back to work does he need formula in the day in addition to water/food?
I don't want the hassle of me giving him formula too on my days off if I can avoid it.

Yes I would expect so. My DS 11mo has an am and a pm bottle. I think it's a comfort thing more than anything else.

I went back to work when ds1 wad 9 months old. He refused any sort of bottle or cup. He would drink water from a sippy but not milk. I was actually really worried about him having no milk all day, but as he was eating well he coped brilliantly. He had milk on cereal and yogurt and cheese.

So I'd say he doesn't need a bottle as such but I think most people would give one.
