Am I doing this wrong? Is there a better way?

The baby (4 weeks) starts fussing and rooting, usually in her sleep. I feed her, she falls asleep on the boob, I take her off, cuddle, lay her down. She wakes because she needs changing because I just fed her. I change her. She wants more milk. And the cycle repeats for hours. Feed, micro nap, change.

If I try to change her first, there might not be anything to change.

I suspect the issue is her falling asleep before she's had her fill but what can I do about that?

This all sounds normal :) You can 'manage' it differently.....your baby falls asleep, you wait a few mins, you change her, she wakes again and will feed again. She then drops off to sleep again. Only change if leaking or massive poo.

We always changed first. Would usually wake him up enough to have a really good feed then put him down straight afterwards. We did get the odd mid feed poo but rarely. Once they are out of tiny nappies I'd always leave unless dirty.

I changed first, unless there had been a poo. That way she was a bit more awake to feed and if she fell asleep at the end of feed she could carry on sleeping

You can sometimes change babies without waking them - try swaddling her arms and chest, using warmed wipes, keeping the lights low, and using white noise (or just saying shhhhh).

DH changes DS as I feed him (lying in bed). Means we're all back to sleep quicker and DS is less likely to wake DD!

I like the idea of changing while I feed but I don't think she'd stand for it (easily distracted). Maybe it's because we are using cloth nappies, she's noticing the wee faster? We have a supply of disposables that we use for trips out of the house and at night and she's sleeps much better with those.

We use cloth during the day but so far have stuck to disposables at night. DD was in cloth overnight by 2 weeks but I'm enjoying changing DS less frequently and getting more sleep!

How often do you change her? DS doesn't seem to poo at all overnight so we just do one change during a feed that is closest to the middle of the night (about 2am). Like I said, I put nipple in mouth and DH quickly gets a new nappy on!

I really need to count one day... today, from midnight it must have been 15 changes already and it's only just tea time. A lot of changes! Lots of little wees and a few little poos.

I used to feed, nappy change and then offer the second boob and then put down to sleep.

I'm having this, ds poops a few minutes,after feeding so I have to change him which is depressing when he's fallen nicely asleep.
