Stopping breast feeding

I am going back to work in a month and am considering stopping breast feeding but my DS (10mnths) loves the first feed of the day. How should I do it should I offer the bottle or just go to breakfast? The last feed at night I will not miss as he likes to bit me. Any help or advice please...

I would get him up quickly and straight down to breakfast personally although not sure at that age.

Can you not bfeed him once a day, first thing?

if you want to stop- just get him up & have breakfast with a cup of warm milk-but you don't have to stop altogether it's very useful to still be feeding 1 or 2 feeds a day my son cut his headnot really bad just needed a couple steri-strips but i was SO glad i could calm him quickly with booby you know when the time is right for you to stop. . . but i bet you'll miss it when you do

Thanks its just shown me that I don't really want to stop so why should I but then I really fancy a huge glass of wine and would love to wear a normal bra again!!

Have the wine, for goodness sake! It will do you and your baby no harm

Can't comment on the bra thing - that's personal taste and comfort, really.

if you're only feeding first thing you can wear a normal bra no problem

time to go shopping!

I kept the morning and evening feeds for quite a while after I went back to work and I still found it VERY hard to give up! I still miss it now.

I drank plenty of wine as well, once DS was older and only having a couple of feeds a day! Get yourself an Elle Macpherson nursing bra - they were nicer than my normal bras.

If you really do want to stop the feeds then you just need to be no nonsense and offer milk in a cup and be enthusiastic about breakfast instead (and wear a poloneck!)

Don't stop BF if you don't want to.

I still BF several times a day and wear 'normal' bras and it's no problem. Go out a treat yourself. I think a big glass of wine is fine too.

Thanks, BF is really hard to begin with but once you've started it is really hard to stop. My DS has bitten me and now he wants to pull my ear whilst BF I love it and I'm off shopping to buy some new bras and a box of wine or perhaps I will open the Champagne I've been saving myself.... Thanks again, I will try to work and BF with confidence!

I hope you get some new bras - it sounds so silly but a good bra can really raise your self esteem. My nursing bras are all old and saggy now but I can't really afford new ones but I went to a wedding a few weeks back and wore a normal underwired bra for the evening and it was awesome - boobs were up under my chin! DH was so excited. DD still feeds all the time so I still need nursing bras but I will really enjoy the day when I can wear proper bras again!
