Private tongue tie snip in north west

My 4 week old has a tongue tie, this was spotted in hospital when he was born and I was told a referral would be made, but my HV has chased it and no referral was made. She's done it now but there's a 4-6 week wait. He feeds ok and is putting on weight but sometimes goes manic at the breast and has a lot of wind and hiccups which I've read can be related to tongue tie.

Can anyone recommend where to get this treated privately in the north west (Manchester/Liverpool) and how much this would cost? Thank you.

milkmatters.org.uk/

Charlotte at milk matters in Huddersfield is very good.
I think it's £200 for assessment and snip. If you don't need snip, you just pay £70 assessment.
If you phone her today, she will probably see you this weekend.

Manchester Lactation Consultants did ours very quickly - booked on Thursday for procedure on Saturday. They were in Hale. Price was £200.
Which hospital are you being referred to? I know there's a lot of variation in waiting times so you might be able to go to a different NW hospital and wait less.

Thank you. Milk matters have an appointment tomorrow, I'm tempted to book it! Need to talk to my husband as I'm not sure I'm up to driving that far. Will also look at Manchester. We've been referred to Alder Hey.

Ah yeah I understand the waiting list there is long. My friend got a cancellation there which cut her wait a lot. Might be worth trying Whiston or Warrington too.

Where are you travelling from? May be easier to get train with baby. I would definitely get it looked at sooner rather than later.

I'm between Manchester and Liverpool. I've gone for Manchester lactation consultants and have an appointment tomorrow.

Hi flipper, just wondered how you got on? We had our baby's tongue tie cut this morning also at Manchester Lactation Consultants. It was traumatic to watch but we've had an immediate improvement in my pain when feeding. Baby has been really unsettled all day though and keeps crying which is so unusual as he's so laid back.

FlipperSkipper · 25/02/2017 19:06

Hi! Similar story, feeding was immediately less painful but he seems a bit confused about how to feed now, which I'm sure will get better given time. He's also been a bit unsettled, which isn't surprising really. The ladies at MLC were lovely and I'd definitely recommend them.

Good to know someone else is in the same position Flipper. We've had a horrendous night, he's just screamed constantly but seems a bit more settled today and is feeding better. Hope things are settled at your end.

Pleased it went well OP. Hope your DS is getting on ok.

Hi. I took my baby to INFANTTS which was in Liverpool at the time. I think they have moved to Warrington way now. They were excellent and I noticed an immediate difference in feeding.
