Hi Everybody

Can someone pls help?

I have been breasting feeding my baby girl for 3 and a half weeks (since birth) and in the past week my boobs and nipples feel funny.

At about 2 weeks they had settled down (after latching her on incorrectly for her first fews feeds I ended up with cracked bleeding nipples, so the midwives showed me how to position my baby correctly). Now my nipples feel really tender and sore again, but there r no cuts and i think she is latched on properly, also I get pains in my boobs on and off throughout the day. At first i thought maybe the baby had thrush but she has no symptoms of this in her mouth. She does have a tongue tie but the midwife felt that it was not bad and would not effect her feeding. Could it be anything to do with the fact that she sleeps 6 to 8 hours at night and my boobs don't get emptied until the morning? Or are these pains just normal?

Thanks for any advice! xx

is ther any redness, hot spots or any 'lumps' you could feel?

It does sound like thrush to me. My ds also had no signs of it in his mouth. Does your dd have nappy rash at all? This was the symptom in my ds, but I didn't realise until we were treated and it disappeared. Some good info here

Tatties - She has a bum rash that the nurse thinks is thrush that we got cream for today. When she was born i had thrush and was on an antibiotic drip as my waters had gone a few days before. I did read that babies can have more wind, which i have certainly noticed recently (she wakes in the morning at about 5 to have BIG farts and then goes back to sleep )

ivelostmyboobsboohoo - there are no hot spots or redness, there is the odd lump but these come and go and move around (so i think they r normal)

Afaik if one of you as thrush then you both need to be treated for it as one will reinfect the other.

I would get you both treated again until it clears. Ds's bum rash went when I gave him the drops and I took the tablets. The cream will ease it but in my case didn't get rid of it completely. Hope you get it sorted soon, not nice is it?
