Maple syrup safe for 8 month old?

Hi there,
I just gave my baby a little bit of banana bread, which I had made earlier - trying to cut down on sugar I'd used 2 tablespoons of Maple Syrup instead.
Suddenly started to worry - I know honey is a big no, but is this also the case for Maple Syrup.
I'm rationalising that the NHS would have put maple syrup on the list of things not to feed your baby if there was any danger, but I'm still worrying....
Has anyone else given their baby maple syrup?

Maple syrup is absolutely fine, don't worry. Honey is no no because of this:

"This is because honey can, very occasionally, contain a spore of a bacterium called clostridium botulinum. This can cause a rare form of food poisoning (botulism) in babies. If your baby has botulism, he may start to show symptoms around eight hours to 36 hours after eating honey."
