Evening all
My son has just turned 17mo and I want to continue/reinstate my milk supply. He has been breastfed since birth but is obviously now fully on solids, goes to nursery, eats well etc. Until a few weeks ago I breastfed him once/day still, occasionally twice if I was around during the day. But then I went on an overseas work trip for 6 days - didn't pump/express - and my supply has really dwindled to almost nothing, I think.
Before I went away I was looking forward to stopping breastfeeding and originally planned for that to be the end of it. But in reality I really missed it and felt that I'd brought it to an end before my son was ready, taking a major source of comfort from him in the process. It's no longer a burden: he doesn't wake in night for it, demand it too much or rely on it, so I'd really like to continue.
Since I've been back I've tried to feed him once per day in the evening, and a few times he's become visibly frustrated/upset at not getting (enough) milk. Other days it's been frustration-free, albeit very short. He still wants it as he'll get very excited when he thinks he's about to be fed and occasionally 'looks' for it too (tries to lift my top!)
So I was wondering if there's anything I can do, at this late stage, to bring my milk supply up to a level again where I can sustain a feed or two a day. I'm unable to feed him more than once (or occasionally twice) per day as I work full time and have long hours.
Thanks in advance.
