Questions about thrush

DS has oral thrush (white coated tongue) and I have it on my nipples (very pink and shiny).

DS is on Nystatin gel 3/4 times a day, and I'm on clotrimazole.

Q1: should I put the cream on after every feed (DS feeds A LOT!)

Q2: how long before It starts to clear? It's been 2/3 days and not much has changed.

😕

Don't know on that one sorry Tea. Have you spoken to a BFC? Smile

Purely my personal experience and I've no idea what is normal but my baby's oral thrush reduced visibly after the first 12 hours of treatment. We needed to persevere for about two weeks to get it all but the white patches reduced by about two thirds almost instantly on starting treatment. I was advised to keep treating for three days after it had vanished, one ml per cheek (which is huge amount for a tiny days-old mouth!)

Can you call whoever prescribed it for you and ask what you should expect? I believe some forms of thrush can be resistant to Nystain and so you need to know the normal timeframe for improvement.
