Nipple Thrush

I've got the cream to treat nipple thrush which I've been using but the pain is now in my breast as well, do I need to apply the cream where it hurts on the breast or will it get into the ducts by applying to the nipple?

Sympathies thrush is horrible. From what I remember when I had it I just put it on the nipple and the pain was in the breast as well and it did clear up. I don't suppose it would hurt to put it on the rest though! Have you got treatment for your baby too?

Thanks fox. Yes, DD has treatment too. I didn't really have symptoms at first but she did. Now that the pain has started it's agonising. If it's this uncomfortable for DD no wonder she seems so miserable.

Yes I was exactly the same with my dd (thankfully haven't had it this time round with ds) she was in a lot of discomfort and I didn't feel anything but as soon as the gp confirmed it I started feeling pain as well sort of radiating through the whole breast. Hope it clears up quickly. I had to have three lots of treatments for it to finally go. Don't forget to keep washing bras, muslins (I did mine daily on a hot wash). Do you think you got thrust because of being on antibiotics? Because I was on antibiotics recently and managed to avoid thrush possibly because I took probiotics afterwards for a month. Sorry you probably know all this but it became one of my specialist subjects!!

Ha thrush not thrust...

I haven't had antibiotics and this is the second time she and I have had it 😞. I have tried to work out why we've both had it again and I saw that having had antibiotics in pregnancy can make you more prone and I had two courses as well as IV antibiotics when I was in labour. DD was also premature and premature babies are also more likely to get thrush apparently. Premature babies are more likely to get everything it seems!
